Itinerary
- Day : 01 Kumarakom
Arrive Cochin our representative will meet you, and we take you to Kumarakom (90 km/2 hrs ) (145 Kms / 4 Hrs). On arrival at Kumarakom visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and later check in at hotel in.
- Day : 02: Kumarakom-
At leisure at resort , Evening go for Sunset cruise (optional) or enjoy the beauty of backwater by just relaxing near Vembanadu Lake.
- Day : 03: Cochin (Departure)
After a good breakfast at 0900 Hrs check out and we transfer you Cochin – airport(100 km /2 hrs) / Railway station. End of Tour / services.
Kumarakom 14 kms from Kottayam is a group of small islands on the fresh water lake Vembanad Lake and a pretty, clean village like most places in Kerala. In 1878, George Alfred Baker, a missionary from Essex, England, set about clearing the mangrove and planted coconut trees. Baker was so taken aback by the beauty of Kumarakom that he decided to make it his home and worked for the development. The lake is a delightful picnic spot and a fast developing backwater tourism destination in India, provides boating, fishing and sightseeing.
Kumarakom is a protected area for indigenous and migratory birds. The main attraction in this area is the beautiful Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary spread across 14 acres. It is a favorite haunt of migratory birds such as egrets, darters, herons, teal, waterfowl, cuckoo, wild duck and migratory birds like the Siberian stork.
